We wish to inform our partners, stakeholders, and neighbours about an important change in our level of activity. Following the decision by our board and owners, influenced by the municipality’s decision to postpone processing of our zoning plan, all activities related to Research and Development have been halted, and further development of the business park is temporarily on hold. This will remain in effect until the zoning plan for Svaaheia has been processed and we receive new instructions from our board and owners.
Svaaheia Eiendom AS (SEAS), owned by the municipalities Eigersund, Bjerkreim, and Sokndal, has in recent years harboured ambitions to develop a forward-looking business park for sustainable innovation and business development. To realize these ambitions, we have participated in several EU-funded R&D projects, including the renowned CARBIOW project, aimed at building a unique centre of expertise and a valuable European network of partners. These initiatives have strengthened our position as an innovative player from a European perspective and have made us a sought-after partner for EU projects.
The recent decision to postpone processing of the zoning plan has created uncertainty regarding the development of Svaaheia Business Park, particularly with respect to local infrastructure and traffic. Therefore, the board and our owners have decided that all R&D activities should be halted, and the further development of Svaaheia Business Park is to be put on hold. As a consequence of this decision, all employees have been downsized, and the activity level at SEAS has been scaled back to the essentials needed for basic operations.
We appreciate the trust and support we have received so far, and we will keep you updated as soon as we receive new information from our board and owners.
